Sirtech announced today that they no longer
plan to release the long-promised expansion
to their popular 1999 game, Jagged Alliance 2.
Though they have not yet found a publisher,
the game's designers claim that Jagged Alliance:
Unfinished Business is no longer compatible
with the HoloScan Personal Computers owned
by 87% of home users worldwide.
"Unfinished Business was designed for a Windows-
based operating system using binary digital processing
of the late 19th century," said a Sirtech representative,
"the holoprojection matrix that is standard on most
computers today simply won't recognize the code."
JA series fans worldwide, who have held silent vigil
for the past decade awaiting UB's release, can now
move on with their lives. Said one fan, "this at least
will give some closure to my life." Other fans, however,
have taken the news more bitterly. "I've been attending
JA discussion forums and newsgroups-- RELIGIOUSLY--
for ten years now, and this is the thanks I get?"
To parlay any dissent expressed at the announcement,
Sirtech plans to salvage whatever they can from the
expansion and develop a nifty screensaver. It may
take awhile for the screen saver to hit the market,
however, as there is still no publisher and the design
team is busy readying Wizardry 27 for an early November
release. The Wizardry series has been one of Sirtech's
hottest lines, with Wizardry 26 selling almost 345 copies
worldwide.
