Verfasst: 14 Jun 2002, 11:54
Hab grad folgendes Interview gelesen in dem angekündigt wird das an JA2 / JA: UB Gold gearbeitet wird. Außerdem wurde Ian Currie von SirTec verpflichtet.
Q) How and when did Strategy First become involved in purchasing Jagged Alliance franchise?
It is important to note that we have signed an agreement with Sirtech to manage the franchise. Members of the Strategy First management team have been loyal fans of the Jagged Alliance series for years now. The Companys President and Co-Founder, Don McFatridge has known Ian and Linda Currie, the lead designers of the original Jagged Alliance, for several years. Needless to say, Don was more than happy to enter an agreement to manage the series for the future.
Q) What is your opinion about the JA series?
This partnership is a great accomplishment for us. We have been avid fans of the series for quite some time. The series has been very successful and has a huge following of fans just like us around the world. We couldnt be happier to become a part of that legend and we look forward to helping the franchise grow in the years to come.
Q) Will Strategy First bring out a compilation containing JA 1 and JA Deadly Games on a single CD?
Not that we know of at this time. All possibilities are being looked at and future announcements will be made I am sure.
Q) After Sir-tech closed down,
, a lot of peoples started to make mod' s for Ja2, one of the most famous is Jagged Alliance Diedrana Live, which reach over 50.000 downloads on the Internet. This prove that the interest for the JA series is alive and people all over the world are waiting eagerly for a sequel. What are the plans with the JA 2 and JA 2 UB?
It has not yet been made official, but we are working on combining JA2 and JA 2 UB into a Gold Pack. An announcement will be made soon.
Q) Would you consider doing another JA using JA2 - UB engine, are you considering releasing some of the utilities associated with the UB editor to add functionality.?
Many of the features in JA2 UB have been extended back to the original JA2 so that has already been done. We are looking into all of the possibilities for future titles.
Q) Any intention to continue development of Sir-Tech project of JA3, and if the answer is yes, can you give us a time frame?
Plans for JA3 have been discussed. However nothing has been finalized or announced just yet. We are still looking at the possibilities.
Q) Does the deal include source code & development material to enable this, or you intend to build your own code?
Since we are managing the franchise, we have access to all of the assets of the project..
Q) Has Strategy First hired, or subcontracted any former Sir-tech staff? If yes, who?
Yes. Our relationship with Sirtech has given us the opportunity to hire several members of the Sirtech development team who are now working for Strategy First. Several programmers, artists and designers, including the original creator, Ian Currie are on the team.
Q) For any future development, will you keep the famous turn based system for the JA series, or you are considering going real time?
As mentioned earlier, we are considering all possibilities. We strongly believe that it is important to maintain the standard quality that brought people to Jagged Alliance in the first place. We intend on maintaining that standard for all of our future projects.
Q) Any significant elements you would like to implement / change future in JA?
It is too early to comment.
Q) What is your opinion about the game industry today, and what it takes to have a commercial successful title?
The industry is definitely more crowded than it used to be. Finding a successful franchise is very important these days. This is why we are working so hard to build our own internally and why we have taken on the management of this franchise as well.
Q) I think the newest release from Strategy First is a very interesting game called Legion. What other wargames / strategy titles do you have in plan?
We have several exciting titles scheduled for release this Summer, Legion is just one of them. Titles, such as Celtic Kings, Prince of Qin, O.R.B, Nexagon, and GI Combat are some of the promising titles included in our 2002 line up. For more information on these particular games and Strategy Firsts future catalogue, log onto our website, http://www.strategyfirst.com
Q) Any other thoughts about the future concerning JA series?
We couldnt be happier with this new partnership. I think it is fair to say that all those involved are looking forward to the future possibilities and helping this franchise develop further for years to come.
